Minimum Swim Requirement Policy
Cedar Park Typhoons is not a learn-to-swim program, nor do we have the ability to assign a coach to each swimmer. Swimmers without basic swimming skills pose a safety issue to themselves and a potential liability to the team. As such, a swimmer must already have some basic swimming skills before joining the team.
Prior to the registration deadline, new Typhoons swimmers will have two opportunities to be evaluated on their swimming ability: 04/13 and 04/20 (choose either date, both are not necessary. No RSVP required. Open House Setting.). Each swimmer must be able to swim 25 yards (one length of the pool) unassisted, as determined by the coaches evaluating.
It is strongly advised that if you feel your swimmer may not meet the minimum swim requirement that they wait to register for the team until after they have successfully completed the swimming evaluation. There are local businesses who offer winter/spring swim lessons to help your child prepare for the swim evaluation.
