New Family Information

Welcome to the Cedar Park Typhoons!

We’re happy to have you join our community.

Now that you’ve registered, what happens next?

First, you’ll need to attend one of our Swim Evaluations. All swimmers must meet a minimum skill level to swim for the Cedar Park Typhoons. Learn more about the requirements HERE.

Next, you’ll want to make note of the practice schedule. We practice five days a week starting late April-early May 2025. Practices are not mandatory, but consistent attendance will exponentially increase your swimmer’s skills.

What should I put in my swimmer’s practice bag?

  • Items they need: swimsuit, goggles, swim fins, kick board, towel, water bottle, sunscreen.
  • Items they may want: change of clothes, practice swim cap, snacks

If your swimmer is in the 11-12 age group or older, you do not need to stay for practice. If your swimmer is in a younger age group, a guardian must be present for practice. Many Typhoon families have several swimmers across age groups. There is no shortage of swimmers and families to get to know. Bring a folding chair, some snacks, activities, and stay a while!

Have you thought about your volunteer position? Now that your swimmer is all set for practice, it’s time to check those out! Every swimmer must have a volunteer present at the swim meets, and every volunteer must complete a volunteer shift of their choosing. Find out more about volunteering here.

Volunteering Tips:

  • Do you have other small children to care for? Try Concessions or Ribbons.
  • Do you want to be in on the action? Try Ready Bench, Lane Timers, or Running Proofer.
  • Do you want to have the meet free? Try Set-Up, Tear Down, or Truck Loading.
  • Do you want to stay close to your swimmer? Tent Volunteers.
  • Do you want to take your volunteering to the next (trained) level? Try being a stroke or exchange judge.

There is a spot for everyone. Please reach out and ask if you have any questions regarding the positions.
