The Cedar Park Typhoons and the Northwest Swim Circuit are parent run organizations.
It would not be possible to run a meet without volunteers. Your help and support are
required throughout the season.
Meet Director - Conducts all swim meets in accordance with the bylaws of the NWSC. They have total jurisdiction over the swim meet. They are the judge and jury. (Require NWSC officials training)
Stroke Judge - Observes swimmers from start to finish making sure that swimmers are in compliance per stroke and event. Watching stroke, turns, and finishes. (Require NWSC officials training)
Exchange Judge - Placed in all four corners of the pool and observes exchanges in all of the relay events. (Requires NWSC officials training)
Starter - Begins each event/heat announcing the age, stroke and the phrase “swimmers take your marks.” Following they pause briefly to make sure that all swimmers are motionless, and then gives an electronic sound
or blast of a whistle. The starter is the sole judge of false starts and all false will be restarted. (Requires NWSC officials training)
Announcer - Responsible for calling the event/heat number, age group, gender and event name so that the swimmers and/or tent parents will know when to report to the ready bench.
Heat/Event Turner - Flips over the event and heat cards to keep the audience and volunteers clear as to the last and next event/heat.
Head Timer - Makes sure that all lane timers are in place and ready. Runs two stop watches as back up to lane timers who may have failed to start or reset their watch.
Lane Timer - Keeps an accurate time (using a stopwatch) of the swimmer in the lane they are assigned. There are three timers assigned per lane (not all from Typhoons). One of the timers (decided amongst you) will record all three times on the event card at the end of the event or hear and hand it off to the runner.
Set-up/Breakdown Crew - Sets up tables, ropes, tents, result boards, announcer tent and lane markers in preparation for the meet. Break down- takes everything down and packs it up for storage.
Concessions Crew - Sets up and operates concession stand throughout the meet. After meet they are responsible for helping with breakdown.
Concessions Coordinator - Coordinates the setup/break down of concession stand. Responsible for maintaining pars and inventory of products.
Merchandise Parent - Sets up and operates the merchandise table throughout the meet. After the meet they take down the table pack up the merchandise and are responsible for working with the equipment coordinator to store it for use at next meet.
Floater - Will be on-call during the meet to fill in for any position needed.
Ready Bench - Organizes swimmers per event and heat. Also informs starter/announcer of any changes to the heat sheet. (i.e. combing heats/events)
Scorer - Averages the three times and marks official time for each swimmer per heat/event.
Runners - responsible for getting lane sheets to timers and picking up D.Q. slips from stroke judges on both sides of the pool. Collect lane sheets after every third event and walks them to scoring table. D.Q. slips need to be picked up after every race. Every time a runner goes to the computer room to turn in lane sheets he/she will pick up and distribute the next lane sheet to the timers.
Tent Parent - Responsible for swimmer in their age group\gender. Marks swimmers for their races and informs coaching staff of any absent swimmers. Monitors and assist swimmers through out the meet, making sure that swimmers are at the ready bench when it’s their time.
Assistant Tent Parent - Assist tent parent with monitoring and guidance of swimmers.
