Coach Sarah comes
to the Typhoons with six years of coaching experience. She is
currently the coach for the year round Anderson Mill Torpedoes Swim
Club and summer Masters swimming program, along with giving private
swimming lessons. She is also coaching and giving swimming
instruction at Austin Community College. Coach Sarah coached
for the NWSC Anderson Mill Barracudas for five years, River Place

in Auckland, New Zealand for one year while training with the
National/Olympic Team. She swam four years for Brigham Young
University, she held school records at Westwood High School, and
she swam seven years for Circle C and Longhorn Aquatics club
teams. Coach Sarah currently holds USA Swimming coaching
certification as well as Lifeguard Instructor, Lifeguard, First
Aid, and CPR certifications.
Sarah’s
hobbies include rowing, baking, reading, and eating a lot of
sweets! An interesting fact is that she is one of the few
girls on the planet that does not like chocolate. Her
favorite candies are Sour Patch and Skittles, and can usually be
caught with a bag or two. Sarah has a deep love for swimming
and coaching. Her best events were sprint freestyle and
breaststroke. Swimming has been a big part of her life over
the past 17 years and has given her some of the best experiences of
her life. Her main desire now is to further facilitate a love
of swimming for kids and help them to achieve their goals.
She is really looking forward to working with the Typhoons this
summer and can’t wait to meet
everyone!
 Josh StanfieldAssistant CoachEmail
Coach Josh comes to the Typhoons with 5
years of coaching experience. He is currently a Junior
swimming for Southwestern University in Georgetown, and was
recently named to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference
(SCAC) 2010 All-Sportsmanship Team, and Academic All-American
(2009-2010) as part of the Men’s team which ranks in the top
40 in the nation. Josh holds one school record as a member of
the 200 Freestyle Relay, and his specialty events are the 100 and
200 Backstroke. In recent years he has been an Assistant
Coach and Lane Instructor for the Huntsville Lakers Swim Team, as
well as swim lesson instructor, lifeguard, and pool supervisor in
Huntsville and Wichita Falls. Coach Josh currently holds First Aid,
CPR, and American Red Cross Lifeguarding
certifications.
Josh is very excited about coaching the
Typhoons, bringing a passion for the sport that he hopes will
inspire swimmers of all ages. He believes that the
coach-athlete relationship is one of the most important aspects of
swimming, and looks forward to connecting with all of the
swimmers. He also believes that team unity is very
important. Josh says that he feeds off of his teammates, and
looks to them for inspiration. But that goes both ways, as
his coach tells him that he is “the heart and soul of the
team.” This summer, Josh is looking forward to adding
that spark to the Typhoons.
When he is not in the water, Josh enjoys
kicking back and watching the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, and
Dallas Stars. But one of his greatest passions is simply
interacting with people; he enjoys embracing and learning from
everyone. Josh finds inspiration in the Lord’s
Prayer. And one of his favorite quotes is from legendary
basketball coach Jimmy V: "Enjoy life... all of the precious
moments that you have.... Don't give up, don’t EVER give
up."
